Preface, Abstract and Introduction to Final Thesis

If you are a novice bachelor, we assume that the bachelor thesis is still waiting for you. If you are already a graduate you know how the foreword and the introduction should look like. However, everything can always be improved. The preface and also the introduction are written at the very end, when you have already written the core of the thesis (ZP) and thus know the final structure and content of each chapter.

The main task of the Preface

Students often confuse the preface with the introduction. The preface is not numbered, but counts against the number of pages and characters of your final thesis. It is written on a separate page and its main aim is to give general characteristics of the work, the circumstances of its origin, the social context and the relation of work with external factors. Try to explain all the reasons that led you to choose the topic, describe the aim and purpose. Briefly describe the main methods you have used in your final thesis. Briefly, concisely and comprehensibly outline the domestic and foreign context, characterize the state of knowledge or practice in the field.

The preface range is max. 1 page.

Also, at the very end of the preface, do not forget to thank everyone who has provided you with the help and support to process your final thesis (tutor, consultant, organization, sponsors, lecturers, family …).

Abstract ZP

The abstract, like the foreword and introduction, is placed on a separate page. Followed by entering your bachelor, diploma or doctoral thesis. It is written in two versions, in English and in a foreign language (usually in French). The abstract is not numbered and the coefficient of work and the number of characters are not included.

The task of the abstract is to help the reader quickly become familiar with the content of the work. It includes compressed data on the goals of the work, methods, results and conclusions contained in the thesis. The text of the abstract is written as one paragraph, so do not divide it in any way.

Try to stylize simple sentences instead of long and unclear sentences. You will see, you will appreciate it when translated into English. The English text should correspond to the text, it should be clear and clear. Usually use simple times – past, present; impersonal construction, liabilities and authorial plural. Do not use abbreviated forms in the English text (eg INCORRECT “it’s” RIGHT “it is”). When creating a text, we recommend using only one and the same term to mark a particular subject, such as Bachelor Thesis, and not a few names.

If you are not sure about the correct construction of sentences in grammar and stylization, try to translate the abstract by an expert.

Main objective and structure of the introduction of the medical device

The main aim of the introduction is to introduce the reader to the chosen issue and to present the work briefly, but at the same time in more detail than in the preface. Focus on the characteristics of the current state of knowledge of the issue, justify the topicality and issues of the topic. Indicate the context important for understanding the issue, the objectives of the work, the hypotheses, the methods chosen and the procedures of the solution.

Also, remember the brief contents of each chapter. Also, the introduction should not be missing information about the sources of information you have used or the materials you have worked with. The scope of the introduction in the bachelor thesis is max. 2 pages, more can be done in larger works (diplomas, dissertations).

If you are still unsure about the structure, the content of the foreword, the abstract and the introduction, you will be assured of the document entitled Methodology of Writing Final Works, which is published on the website of each university or faculty.
